TOM, MY A/C SWITCH WILL NOT TURN OFF. IT IS STUCK ON HIGH AND DOESN'T TURN OFF EVEN WITH THE IGNITION TURNED OFF. I HAVE TO PULL THE FUSE OR DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO GET IT TURNED OFF. THIS IS A '92 OLDS CUSTOM CRUISER.
THE SPECIAL INFO IS THAT SEVERAL YEARS AGO A SOFT DRINK GOT SPILLED ONTO THE FACIA OF THE A/C CONTROL AREA OF THE DASH AND I THINK IT HAS PERMEATED AND FOULED THE SWITCH. I'VE SEEN YOUR ANSWERS ABOUT RELAY REPLACEMENT ETC. BUT BEFORE I GO THAT FAR I NEED TO KNOW SIMPLY HOW TO GET INTO THE SWITCH TO CLEAN IT, 'CAUSE THAT MAY BE THE ONLY PROBLEM.I CAN'T SEEM TO GET INTO IT FROM THE FRONT (I CAN GET THE BLACK PLASTIC BEZEL OFF)BUT THERE IS SEEMINGLY JUST NO ACCESS TO THE SWITCHES FROM UNDERNEATH THE DASH.IF YOU CAN TELL ME HOW TO GET THE SWITCH OUT I CAN CLEAN IT AND SEE IF THATS THE ONLY PROBLEM THEN GO FROM THERE IF ITS NOT.THANKS FOR YOUR HELP , AL ANDERSON
Answer -
Without actually having access to the vehicle, I have no clue as to how to access the switch. There are so many different clips, snaps and panels that they are all DIFFERENT from year to yaer and model to model that I can't remember which gets removed in order to gain access to the switch.

WELL, TOM, IS THERE ANYONE IN YOUR SYSTEM THAT KNOWS OLDS SPECIFICALLY OR HAS ACCESS TO A REPAIR MANUAL THAT EXPLAINS THE STEPS NECESSARY TO ACCESS THE SWITCH? SORRY BUT I JUST NEED A LITTLE HELP GETTING TO THE SWITCH.
THANKS AL

Answer
I just do NOT have a 92 Olds custom Cryuiser service manual in my extensive library. If I had the book, I could e-mail you pictures of where all the plastic clips, snaps and screws are located in order to remove the complete panel assembly.

If I had the vehicle I could figure it out without the book but this is iimpossible to try and tell you where they are when I am NOT sure myself.

See if you can borrow a service manual from your local dealer.

I wish I could give you the information, But I just don';t have ALL the books for every make, year and model vehicle.
