Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: Check engine light, 5 more minutes, computer system

Question
The other day the Check engine light came on while I was driving and the engine shut down. I pulled to side of road.  It started again in a few seconds.  After driving about 5 more minutes the Check engine light came on again and the engine started missing. It finally shut down.  It was ten minutes before it would start again.  

Any idea what is going on?

There are up to 50 fault codes that will illuminate the CHECK ENGINE light in preventing your vehicle from starting.

You need to have a SCANNER installed on the computer system in order to find out what code(s) are being displayed and causing your problem.
