Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: Intermittant knocking/power loss, rough start, knock sensor, autozone

Question
I have a 1994 Olds 88 that has 220,000 miles on it and has been pretty good to me. Burns no oil. The Check Engine light comes on some times when I am climing a long hill as the car starts to knock and power slowly fades. It does not happen all the time. Sometimes the light comes on after I back off the gas peddle going down hill. I was able to make the engine happy for a while using hi-grade gas but now it does it with that as well. I have suspected anti-knock sensor but the car runs well most of the time. Some one suggested bad catalytic converter. Again I would have thought that would show a problem all the time. Fuel filter is not too old but since the problem preceded the last change of the fuel filter and continued after I have assumed it as unlikely part of the problem. Wires look good. It also is very rough at start up with no power and stumbles, for maybe 90 seconds. I drive over 100 miles round trip every day to work and can goes for days with out this knocking problem. I often use a remote starter so I am not so sure if the rough running at start up is a constant problem or not but I suspect that it is.

Answer
I need to know what the CODE(S) numbers are that is making the CHECK ENGINE light illuminate.

If you take the car into a major auto parts store such as autozone, checkers, napa, etc, etc, most of them will hook up their scanner and tell you what CODE(S) you have.

Once I have the codes then we can proceed.
