Question
have a 1987 buick lesabre 3.8v6 has 88,000miles.car never starts on 1st crank. after you drive it somewhere and turn off and try to start again it cranks and cranks 20 times before it starts again. it always starts but takes long time. i changed plugs wires fuel filter had injectors cleaned. car runs great just hard time starting. no cap and rotor car has coil packs. any idea what could be.

Answer
Could be:

1. faulty fuel pump relay as the realy is used to PRIME the fuel system prior to the starting of the engine.

2. Faulty CHECK VALVE in the electric fuel pump in the fuel tank causing the fuel to drain back out of the fuel lines and back into the fuel tank.

3. faulty CAMSHAFT sensor.

4. Heat sensitive crankshaft sensor.

5. heat sensitive ignitiom module.

6. heat sensitive coil pack(s).

7. Heat sensitive computer.

ALL of these components need to be tested for proper operation when the engine is at normal operating temperature.
