Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 95 Achieva transmission problem, gasket seal, sensor plate

Question
I was looking for some help, from past experience I would say that this car is having an issue with the torque converter staying locked. Tries to stall when stopping, if you slow down it chuggs along when trying to accelerate again.

The different thing is once you start off it runs normally in first gear, then shifts to second, immediately after hitting second gear you feel the converter lock. Slams into third gear, etc. As you slow it doesn't want to accelerate again if you floor it it feels like it releases but accelerates wildly. I was hoping to see if it is a speed sensor or something along these lines that is letting it lock at a low speed instead of after it is in 4th gear. You can see tach fluctuations as you slow down like it is downshifting but runs very rough and tries to stall as you stop. If you downshift manually into (2) as you slow around 10 mph you feel a hard shift but it doesn't try to stall. There is no check engine light and I have not scanned it. The fluid level is good and it is a bit brown but I have seen alot worse, the smell is not strong of being burnt.

Answer
If the fluid is NOT the normal color that it is supposed to be and is actually BROWNISH in color this is the first sign of an impending transmaiision failure.

Possibilities are:

1. Faulty pressure sensor plate in the transmission.
2. Faulty shift solenoid(s).
3. Sticking valves in the valve body.
4. Torque converter solenoid failure.
5. Impending torque converter failure (DOUBTFUL).
6. Faulty intermittent electrical connections.
7. Faulty intermittent speed sensor (DOUBTFUL).
8. Low transmission pressure in the over drive oil
  circuit.
9. Faulty impending gasket, seal or clutches failure.

Without performing the necessary tests it could be ANY of the above.
