Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 1998 Olds Silhouette Mini Van, genuine gm part, chevy lovers

Question
Several times over the past year, I have taken my mini-van to a local repair shop to have a "check engine light" resolved.  I trust the mechanics who work at the shop.

Each time I take it back, the computer indicates there is a problem with the EGR valve.  The valve has been replaced a couple of times but the "check engine light" comes back on soon after I pick-up the mini-van from the repair shop and each time the mini-van computer is checked, the error codes indicate an issue with the EGR valve.

The last time I took the Van to the repair shop for the same EGR issue, the mechanic checked the wire harness and supposedly found an issue with the connector at the EGR valve.  The connector was replaced.  The shop test drove the mini-van for a couple of hours and the "check engine light" did not come-on.  But, soon after I picked the Van up from the shop, the "check engine light" came on again.

Any other ideas why the mini-van computer keeps indicating an error code for the EGR valve?  Remember, the valve has been changed at least twice...once with a genuine GM part.

One other note, as soon as the "check engine light" comes on, the mini-van engine begins to surge (the mechanics are aware of this symptom)

Answer
Hello Gene,
I don't know the answer to that, but if you would go to the site of the link I will send you, ask the question there, and hundreds of people will see it, and you will get some suggestions.

You will need to sign up to ask, but it is free. It is a site for Chevy lovers, but Olds is close enough.
