I have a 1987 olds ninety eight 3.8 V6,Car was starting fine until spark plug wires were crossed While changing the valve cover gaskets.Firing order of wires was corrected but the engine just turns over and will not start. No fire coming from the ignition coil,no fire from spark plug wires to spark plugs.A new ignition module was replaced and engine still just turns over with no signs of ignition fire. What could be the problem ?
Answer -
Hi Lee,
There should be a wire that carries battery voltage to the coil when the key is in run. probably a red or pink wire. See if maybe the ignition fuse is blown.

Van where is the ignition fuse located ?

Answer
Lee,
I wouldn't gurantee that there is a fuse' There may be a fusible link in the wire to the ignition switch.
It should be at the starter battery cable stud, or from some positive battery cable connection.
It will look like a piece of wire spliced to another wire with a big rubber cover on the splice. it is actually a fuse type wire, called a fusible link.
It may not even be burned completely in two, but if you squeeze the wire, and pull on it a little, you can tell it is not connected inside the rubber.
