Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: Buick Supercharger, buick park avenue, gnttype org

Question
I have a 1994 Buick Park Avenue Ultra with a supercharger that is making noise, similar to what you hear when a water pump is bad.

The cost of a relacement supercharger is too much for an old car, the mechanic suggested to just drive it if I don't mind the noise. The car rides well, and you don't hear the noise while driving. When stopped at a light with the engine idling, you can hear it.

I'd appreciate your comments.

Any comments?

Answer
Hi Clyde,
I haven't worked on a car turbo, but on a truck or piece of heavy equipment, when the bearings of the turbo go out, it will take an oil seal out, and start sucking great amounts of oil into the intake, and smoke like a freight train. You will also loose oil pressure, and oil.
There is a sight I have seen that is composed of Turbo Regal owners, and there are a lot of links on that site, as well as a forum. You might find some cheap prices and good answers there.
