Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 94 Buick Skylark Turn Signal Flasher, buick skylark, turn signal flasher

Question
Thanks Van, that is exactly where I have been looking, could you describe what the relay usually looks like...I'm expecting a round or rectangular, aluminum-body unit about 1-2 inches across...with 4 terminals. Sound correct? I did check the fuses, all are fine.

Question -
Hi Van, I am trying to locate the signal relay for our 94 Buick Skylark, both sides stopped at once all four locations, so I'm thinking its the relay..should be simple and cheap to fix..however..I have undone all the shrouding under the dash...to no avail. I originally was looking by the steering coloumn..no luck. Any help you can give would be great.
Thanks

Hello Cliff,
First, check the fuse, unless you already have, or the lights light when you select a turn, just don't flash.
To the best of my knowledge, you are in the right area. I don't think they moved it. But it could be in the fuse block. I am almost sure the emergency flasher is on the fuse block.
I also think the owners manual shows where the flashers are.

My book says the emergency flasher is in the convenience center under the dash on the left side, and the turn signal flasher is in a clip attached to the base of the steering column support inside the car. That would put it just about in front of your knees in the drivers seat, up under the bottom edge of the knee panel.

Answer
Hello Cliff,
I would look for a round aluminum flasher, but it could be plastic. I have seen blue and black ones.
I think it will have only two terminals, positioned in the shape of an "L", but it could have three.
Remotely possible it could be square, about the size of an ice cube, or small relay.
I really don't know why they stick them in such a hard place to find. I have a 95 Olds Cutlass Cierra out in the driveway. I just went out there, and looked where I told you. I even turned the turn signal on, and had it flashing. I could hear it was there, but didn't actually see it. I didn't take any panels off though.
Mine sounded almost centered, or actually just to the left of center, not on the column itself, so you might want to widen your search.
