Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: Electronic spark control unit, olds cutlass, ceirra

Question
I have just purchased a 87 olds cutlass ceirra V6 2.8 and have had the check engine light come on.  I ran a test and came up with a code 43.  Now the thing does not want to run at all.  I will back it out of my drive and it will die.  Start it back up and shift into drive and it will die.  I have been told that the spark control unit does go bad sometimes in these things.  But I can not seem to locate it.  Could you please tell me the location of this.  Also the with your exp. do you think this is the problem or could this actually be the knock sensor. Thanks Justin

Answer
hi justin, no not the knock sensor.but possibly an ecm problem..the ecm will be behind the glove box it is a silver metal box.this controls a lot of things.but i cannot say for certain that it is bad .my educated guess would be ignition module which is located under the dist cap.good luck please vote for me billymac
