Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: surptine belt, ty

i need help my husband has had surgery and cant do any work right i had a surptine belt come off of my 1998 olds regency 88 6 clynder i also had to replace the idler pully i have the pully back on but my belt is to snugg to get over the pully is there a bold or something i need to do to give me more room to get the belt on since my husband cant do this at this time any help you could give me i would appricate thank you fran

hi fran sorry so long replying but had puter probs. yes the tensioner has to be released.and of you are releaseing tensioner then the belt diagram should be on the front of car on a styicker under hood make sure the belt is ran exactly the way the diagram shows..ty billymac please rate my help
