i have a 96 ols ciera, 3.8 liter V6 with a auto trans, with 86,000 miles.  i just did a oil change and then i few hours later i went to store and i back out of the driveway and when i put it in drive it all starting bogging out and wanting to die on me.  so i turned around and pulled back into the drive way and then it did die.  so now weather i put it in drive or reverse it wants to die out.  we check the fuel pump and its pumping out at over 40 lbs of pressure?  so i'm stumped.

crack sensor or module huh?  how much would or should this cost to fix if i take it to a garage or could i do it myself or do i need computer hookup?

Answer
hi again aj.well you don,t need a puter to change either one but to be certain this is the problem a puter would help.to change a cranksensor if you have access to the tools in earlier question.the module it is the part underneith the coil pack pretty simple to change.if you have either one changed they will charge you an hours labor which will prob be min of 75.00 plus the part if you have both changed which we normally change them both as to be sure it is fixed.then double labor and a big mark up on parts.what i would suggest is if you are unsure is to change the module yourself you will save a cpl hundred.and if that fixes it great if not have the cr sens changed.good luck billymac
