Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: buick suspension, grease fittings, buick lesabre

Question
I own a 1990 buick lesabre ltd. 3.8(3800) with a C code. when i drive this car and turn the steering wheel to the right and back to the center position it squeals, then it stops. when i turn to the left it does not do this. also my drivers side window(power)started acting up on me, it only goes down about 2 inches and stops,it still goes up from that, but that is all it will do.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME

Answer
Hi John,
You say squeel...is that like belt squeel on the pump? You listed as suspension.
If something under the car in the suspension is squeeling, I would think it was a ball joint. I don't know if they had grease fittings on that one or not, but would check there first, even if it is the belt.
I have heard what sounds like squeeling while turning the wheel that was just the plastic housing around the steering column rubbing on the steering wheel. Tilting the tilt helps find that.

As for the window, spray some soapy water on the channels that the window runs in and see if it is just binding up there. There is a self resetting circuit breaker in the motor that opens when the resistance gets too great, like at the end of travel, and that is what shuts it off normally.
If that window would slide easily, which you may be able to determine by assisting it, then the motor may need to be replaced.
If it just quits moving, but the motor is running, there is a drive belt with holes in it that pulls and pushes the window, and that may be broken.
May just need to remove the door panel and look in there.
