Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: transmission, buick century, throttlebody

Question
Hi Billy-

I have a 1997 Buick Century with 147,000 miles on it that I am about to try to sell. For the past month, if I hit the gas somewhat hard (getting on the freeway, leaving a stoplight) the car seems to be having trouble shifting from first to second - it revs and if I take my foot off the gas, it will lurch and "catch" the next gear. It feels like it might be slipping? It performs fine at higher speeds. I went to Jiffy Lube and they said a flush might help but the fluid looked OK. What do you think might be the problem and the cost of repair?

Thanks!!!

Karen

Answer
hi karen.lol ,hit the gas somewhat hard.trans problem.hmm nnection here.ok karen there is one shot to fix this problem without major trans repairs.there is a cable going from the trans to the throttlebody.there is a lock clip you push down on this clip and the cable will move back and fourth.you want to decrease the tension on the cable.drive it see if it shifts better.if so good no prob if not you will need to go to trans shop for estamate.good luck .and please rate my help .ty billymac
