Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 89 BUICK LESABRE RUSTED FUEL LINE, buick lesabre, gm dealership

Question
I OWN AN 89 BUICK LESABRE 3.8 LITRE V6 AND IT IS A NORTHERN CAR. SO OF COURSE THAT MEANS IT HAS A LOT OF RUST UNDERNEATH. I RECENTLY MOVED TO SOUTH CAROLINA AND NOT TWO WEEKS OF BEING HERE MY CAR SPRANG A FUEL LEAK. I TOOK IT TO A GM DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID TO HAVE THE FUEL LINE REPLACED THAT IT WOULD COST APPROX. $2000.00 BECAUSE OF SO MUCH RUST. MY QUESTION IS DO YOU THINK THAT I COULD FIND SOME WHERE THAT COULD REPAIR IT FOR CHEAPER AND DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS.

Answer
hi ad.yes there is a cheaper solution, and the dealer would never tell you this.because they know the right way is the only way you can warranty anything..but here is what you do go find the bad spot on the line cut it out use a tubeing cutter a cheap one will be fine, cut the bad line out leave enough comeing off tank to splice into.take your old line to parts store.buy new piece and buy compression fittings to connect the new line to the old line form it as best you can makeing sure it will not be hit or drug on the ground .start car check for leaks if fittings leak tighten them.hope this helps please take a min of your time to rate my help ty billy mac
