Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: Oldsmobile Bravada - oil gauge/sensor, 2001 oldsmobile bravada, oldsmobile bravada

Question
How can I identify the location of the oil sensor or gauge on the 2001 Oldsmobile Bravada.  The problem is that the oil gauge doesn't register...no movement of the needle.  I've been told that the oil sensor is bad, and the garage wants over $700. to replace it.  Is it reasonable to think that the part could be ordered and replaced simply or does it require dismantling of some part of the engine to reach it?

Thanks,

Answer
HI VALERIE .WOW I AM GLAD YOU WROTE.IF THE GARAGE WANTS 700 TO REPLACE THIS SENSOR ..LOL RUN VAL FAST GET AWAY FROM THOSE GUYS.THIS PART IS AT WORST 40.00.IT IS LOCATED RIGHT NEAR THE OILFILTER .IT IS THE ONLY SENSOR NEAR THE FILTER IT WILL BE ENCLOSED IN AN ALUMINUM COVER AS TO RESIST HEAT.IT SIMPLY UNSCREWS.AND TAKES ABOUT HALF HOUR REPAIR.NOW THE GARAGE MAY BE THINKING THE GUAGE IN THE DASH IS BAD BUT THE SENSOR SHOULD BE REPLACED FIRST.JUST GO TO ANOTHER GARAGE TELL THEM YOU WANT YOUR OIL SENDING SENSOR REPLACED AND ASK FOR A WRITTEN ESTAMATE ON THAT REPAIR.SHOULD BE 40.00 PLUS 1 HR LABOR MAX..GOOD LUCK VALERIE.PLEASE TAKE A SEC TO RATE MY SERVICE TY BILLYMAC
