Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: Buick Service Vehicle Soon Light, buick regal gs, vehicle speed sensor

Question
I have a 1999 Buick Regal GS 3.8L Supercharged. 75K miles.
The Service Vehicle Soon Light and the Traction Off light come on after about 5 to 10 seconds after I start the engine. I can't turn the traction control back on with the button between the seats. The cruise control quit working at the same time, as well.
There are no engine codes. The fuses are fine. The   car runs and drives good, too.
I bought a Haynes repair manual, but, i don't think it covers traction control.
Could it be the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor), some other sensor, or broken wires?
