Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 99 Olds Intrigue Blinker Light, recepticle, lucky son

Question
Hi:

I bought my son a 1999 Olds Intrigue as his first car.  Shortly after purchasing it the left blinker burned out.  I replaced it and they continually burn out.  It was suggested that I put eletrical grease in the socket.  I did and now they burn out within an hour.  I took the light out of the right blinker and look in the recepticle where it plugs in.  That recepticle looked alot cleaner on the inside than the one that keeps burning bulbs out.  Should I replace the recepticle on the left side?  I'm really afraid this is some expensive electrical problem I won't be able to afford to fix.  The car is in excellent shape and thank God this is the only issue we are having.  But not a safe issue for a new driver to have!

Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Kendra
