Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: Faulty Switch on Heating Unit, flat switch, blower motor

Question
Hey Billy,
I have a problem with the switch for my blower motor.  The blower will not turn on when set to 1, 2 or 3 but is fine when set to 4 or 5.  Does this sound like the setting are worn out and if so can the switch be replaced or does the entire unit need to be replaced?

Thanks,
Tim

Answer
hi tim,. well tim this really sounds like a resistor prob.if resistor goes bad the low speeds will not work.the resistor will be located on the heater box near the heater mtr usually the mtr wires will run right too it.but it will be a flat switch with about 5 wires plugged into it .and will be held with 2 screws directly nto the plastic heater box.rather under the dash or under hood depending on the type of car you have.good luck please take a minute to rate my service .it is very important to me ty billymac
