Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: Ignition control module, gm dealers, diag

Question
I'm told this replacement part would allow my 2003 Alero to again run without stalling, allow acceleration, run smooth again. Does this sound right for an auto less than two years old? How much should such a part cost. And how much should I pay for repairs. I'm told this is an emmission problem therefore not covered by warranties. I have 69,000 mi. Thanks EMB

Answer
hi ethel..well let,s see.i am hopeing that whoever told you that you need a ignition module .came from that conclusion from theral diagnostics involveing the help of a computer.because the part and replacement could cost 500.00 or more.and the only way to determine if this part is bad is with diagnostics.and remember all electrical parts are non returnable.there other factors to determine first.my suggestion is take it to the dealer for diag then let them deceide if under warranty or not.and then you atleast have a diagnosis of the prob.this paticular car is not a simple car to repair and is reccomended that only gm dealers attempt to repair.and saves you time money and possible further damage to the elec system.if you write back with the diag report from dealer i will advise you further.ty please don,t forget to rate my help..billymac
