Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 85 Olds - Fuel problem (?), olds cutlass ciera, olds cutlass

Question
Have a very well-worn 85 Olds Cutlass Ciera with 4-cylinder front-wheel drive. Had an alternator problem - had it replaced. Now, I am having some kind of major fuel / 'carburation' (has computer controlled injector of some type)issue. Always started fine, now I have to pump pedal several times. Also 'dying' (acts like fuel starved) on turns...sometimes even when starting out. If I pull over, re-start...pumping peddle...goes again.
I have replaced fuel filter and looked for connections / lines to carburator that may have been disconnected. Any advice on 'typical' cause...where to look...will be greatly appreciated.

Answer
hi frank.well typical prob.not sure today there is one lol.but let,s give it a shot .your car ran fine before the alt prob after you have a f i problem.probably when you had a alt prob.you also had a low voltage prob ,which means something electrical that takes 12 volts was forced to run on say 9 or 10 volts.and prob caused major damage.the parts that this is possible on are parts that use a pcp.or printed circuit panel.the only one of the two choices which are fuel pump and ign module that has a pcp would be the ignition module.the module is the cheepest of the two.and fairly easy to install.but it will certainly be one or the other i can,t say exactly which without testing.hope this helps.please take time to rate my service it is important to us ty good luck
