Question
98 buick lesabre 3.8L...I have a leak of anti-freeze into the cylinders and thought head gasket as soon as I started tear down I got the upper intake manifold off and seen anti-freeze in the top is this norm for a blown head gasget or could it be a blown upper intake manifold gasket?Thank you

Answer
Hi Dan,
It is possible that it is a manifold gasket.
You can connect an air hose to each sparkplug hole in order, while the valves are closed for the tested cylinder, and see if air goes into the cooling system.
That might be better than pulling the heads.
Or just get the coolant out of the cylinders, and replace the intake manifold gasket, and just see.
If you do end up doing a head gasket, you won't be out all that much.
