Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: Distributor prob, intermittent problem, loose connection

Question
I have an Olds 98, 1993.  The distributor has gone out....again.  I also used to have a 98 Olds, 1991, which did the same thing, about every 6 months.  Is there any way to prevent this from happening?  On this 1993 vehicle, this particular distributor has lasted the longest...18 months.  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Dana,
Sorry this answer is so late...I signed out on vacation, but the site doesn't seem to update all the areas I am in, even though it says it will.
I am curious weather the distributor is actually going out, or the act of replacing it corrects an intermittent problem like a loose connection, or a bad ground where it bolts into the block.
You could try by removing it like you were going to replace it, and then sticking the same one back in.
Also, if you are replacing modules inside the distributor, there is some heat dissipating grease that is supposed to be ussed to prevent the module from overheating.
