Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 1985 Pontiac Bonneville not running properly, vacuum leak, pontiac bonneville

My son has a 1985 Pontiac Bonneville, it has been running fine until the past 2-3 days. It had begun to hesitate when already running and then beginning to accelerate. Now it will start, however the engine is running very slowly. If you attempt to accelerate in park it will stall. If you put it in gear the same thing occurs. Can you give us the probable causes, and how to go about trouble shooting for the answer?

Hi Mike,
Sorry this is so late...I was out of town taking care of some parent plans.
Now that 85 may well have a carburetor, and the adjustments on it, as well as the choke, linkage, and accelerator pump may need some attention.
Good luck finding someone wanting to work on a carb.
A vacuum leak is always something to consider.
