Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: car problem, buick century, dirty fuel

Hi. I have a Buick Century 1993.

My car won't go pass 20 miles and i need to know what the problem could be? Will i have to get the entire transmission fix? It backs up and it works in over drive.

I don't know how you know it works in overdrive, cause it won't even shift into overdrive till you are going about 40.
Now, is it an engine power problem you have, caused by a dirty fuel filter, dirty air filter, plugged exhaust system, low fuel pressure, etc, or do you have some reason to believe the engine is fine but you have a transmission problem?
I'd start with the fuel filter, I believe.
