Pontiac Repair: 98 Grand Prix GTP, rd gear, tranmissions

My 98 GTP is having an issue that just started within hours, when started and driving it is fine but after a few minutes in drive it jumps from around 1800rpm to redline and won't move like its revving in neutral same for third gear but it doesn't do it in 2nd gear need help figuring out what's wrong

sounds like the transmission is slipping bad. don't drive it anymore your just cuaing more dmage to it. It's not something you will be able to fix your self. it has an internal issue with a set of burn cluthes. usually 3'rd gear burns up in those tranmissions.
