Pontiac Repair: aligning timing chain marks, pontiac sunfire, cam gears

Question
got a 97 pontiac sunfire 2.4 timing chain jumped the gear. need to know how to line up the marks or better yet look at a diagram

Answer
Hey greg:

First off replace thentensioner and the guides along with the chain usually the top guide between the 2 cams breaks. that being said the crank lines up at 12:00 with a dot on the block and either a dot on the crank gear or ot's the key way I don't remember t's been a long time since I had one of those apart. the cam gears have a hole around the 6:00 positoon you need a 5/16" or 8mm bolt that is about 2" long to go though the cam gear alignment hole and into the front cover there is a hold in the cover that the bolt will slide though the geat and into the cover to hold the cams ion place. pretty easy fix. Look here. It's not scintific by any means but it at least shows you what your looking at. This guy is a bar jobber to the max but you get the idea as to what your looking at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXvdgE24H3Q
