Pontiac Repair: Engine light and shake, pontiac bonneville, auto parts stores

I have a '92 pontiac bonneville se with a V6 engine... The engine light comes on when I'm driving and the car runs fast. When I stop and turn the car off and back on the light goes off. I then try to pull out and the one of two things happen if not both. 1.the car doesn't want to pull or 2.the check engine light comes back on, if not both. I was wondering what all could cause this and what would cause the car to shake all the time when I'm driving reguardless of speed. Need help please and Thanks.

Hi Sara:

stop by one of the big box auto parts stores and have them scan the car for codes they do it for free. Once you know what the light is comming on for it will make it easier to try to fix it. Untill you know why the light is on it's just guessing and guessing is expensive and not the right way to fix it.
