Pontiac Repair: 97 Pontiac Trans Port, pontiac trans port, air control valve

Question
Hello, I have a 97 Pontiac Trans Port i recently had air intake manifold, and head gaskets changed in April. Now it is Starting up and then when it gets warmed up it starts to rev up weird when i go to stop or put it in park then completely die out. Its weird in that it starts right back up, and is not overheating at all. Just wondering what it could be so I can fix it before winter hits. Thanks I hope to hear from you soon....

Answer
Hi Michael:

sounds like it could be a dirty throttle playe and or idle air control valve. No service engine soon lamp on? if so stop by one of the big box auto parts stores and have them check for any trouble codes and if soo see what they are. If not do this. disconnect the battery. and take the rubber hose off the throttle body between that and the air cleaner and clean the throttle plate and the throttle body. also take the idle air valve off and clean that as well. it is on the side of the throttle body it's held on by 2 screws with torx head's and it has one connetor with 4 wires on it. clean the end of the valve put it all back together hook the battery back up and do this turn the key to the run position wait 1 minute turn the key off wait another minute and then start the van up and see how it runs. One other thing to look at is make sure this has Factor OEM PCV valve in it and not a fits all cheap aftermarket valve. good luck :-}
