Pontiac Repair: 1998 Trans Sport starts & idles but wont run, oil pressure switch, fuel pressure regulator

Question
I have a 1998 Trans Sport
I was driving 3 days ago and out of no where for no reason it started sputtering and acting like it was out of gas, although it wasn't, I barely made it home after stopping many times and waiting for it to restart and drive a block at time. So I replace the fuel filter - no change- then I replaced the fuel pump- no change- then I replaced the fuel pressure regulator still no change. I now am out of ideas, fuel pump relay? I have also tested oil pressure switch found it to be working ok, also tried to get codes but for some reason the code reader is not able to read codes, I tried 2 different readers they worked on my sons cavalier but not reading mine, confused. also noticed at one point that I heard a constant fast clicking coming from near transmission while key was on, pulled tcc fuse and it quit. but this only happened twice and not since. Any help would be appreciated.  We love our Pontiac.

Answer
Hi Tony:

have the car scanned for codes at one of the big box auto parts stoires. there were a few years that some of the GM products had issues with come genaric code readers. see what codes are stored and go form there. It could be an issue with the ignition system and not fuel related but intill you know what the root issue is and that is why getting codes out is important other wise your just guessing and wasting your $.
