Radio turns off headlights go out ac off, running lights dash lights and engine stay on with the key out. Pulled igniition relay kills engine lights stay on. We have replaced ignition switch which didn't change anything. Any help or ideas would be gratly appreciated.

ANSWER: Hi Joe:

very ODD. does this have an aftermarket remote starter on the car? if so that is the first place to look.  besides that I can't say that I have ever seen anything like this happen before. Very very ODD a remoter starter bypasses all the ignition stuff and it's possible that a starter system failed and it's stuck on keeping all the accy's and engine to keep running. good luck :-}

QUESTION: Thanks for the fast reply. The car didnt come with a keyless remote when we bought it and didnt really take notice of anything out of place, not that i would know what a remote start would look like.I've been told it the solenoid, but that doesn't make sense to me as the starter is operating correctly.Is there something that has changed in the solenoid in the last 15 yrs that i am unaware of.
         THanks again,  joe

ANSWER: If it has one pull down the hush panel under the steering column and you'll see it. it' will be tied into the ignition switch wiring. Usually they are a huge rats nest under there. It this had some sort of a body control module iussue I guess it could cause issues like this as well. problem is the body control module in this car is not a bidirectinal module meaning it has no scan tool communication to read codes. I would have the car scanned for codes in any other modules though stop by a big box auot parts store and see if ther are codes in other modules that may lend a clue as to what is going on here. good luck :)

QUESTION: Scanned the codes from the start with nothing found.There is two units, one with the door dinger in it which isnt working and another unit unplugged the one with the dinger and the car wouldn't fire just turn over. the other i think is for the keyless entry and had no effect.
         Thanxs again, joe

Answer
The "dinger" is the BCM body control module the other one could be the Daytime running light module not sure what you unplugged. if you unplugged the BCM it will not start. I'm still at a loss here as to what is the common thread that this strats and continues to run when the key is off.  when you turn the key of and it keeps running ar any of the dash warning lamps on? before any of this happened was anything strange going on before the battery died? Still really stumped on this just ODD very ODD...
