Pontiac Repair: 2004 Pontiac Vibe Blower Fan Problem, 2004 pontiac vibe, pontiac vibe

Question
I have a 2004 Pontiac Vibe with a blower fan problem.  Sometimes when I first start the car and turn on the air conditioner, the fan will not blow at any speed. Manipulating the switch and tapping the dash does not have any effect.  At times, eventually after driving a few minutes the fan will come on and it will work at all speeds from low to high.  However, sometimes during the drive the fan will NEVER come on but the next day, upon starting the vehicle, the blower fan will again immediately work at all speeds. Can you assist me in diagnosing this problem because I do not know where to start.

Answer
Hey Stephen:

Sounds like either a bad connection somehere or a bad blower motor. when it stops working you need to keep the key in the run posiiton and unplug the blower motor and and check for power and ground to the motor. use a test light unplug the motor and touch the ends of the test light to the ends of the connetor going to the motor put the fan setting to hi and the lamp should light bright If it does the motor is bad. If it doesn't see what your missing either the power feed which is the black wire or your missing the ground which is black with a white tracer. once you know what your missing you can then trace it back to the root of the bad connetion. The speed input is the ground side of the ckt. The power side is controlled by a relay above the glove box. good luck :-}
