Pontiac Repair: A/C shuts off, grand prix gtp, fuse boxes

Question
I have a 2003 Grand Prix GTP Supercharger 3.8 liter engine, the A/C started shutting itself off and sometimes only working on high, other times A/C doesn't work at first and gradually goes on , the center display that shows gas millage oil life goes black & I hear a clicking sound under steering wheel area. They just replaced the resistor & it continues to have the problems.

Answer
Hi Nicole:

It sounds like you may have an issue here with a bad ignition switch. when all this happens does the PRNDLL lamps on the dash flicker or go out? if so that would indicate that there is a power supply issue and on that car the ignition switch is a common problem. I think I would start looking there when all the stuff quits working all the fuses in the fuse boxes need to be checked to see if they are fully powered up. the contacts in the ignition switch get a carbon build up and inturn it causes resistance in the power feeds and then things do not work in the car. good luck :-}
