Pontiac Repair: engine stalls, pontiac gran prix, gran prix 3


Question
got a 91 pontiac gran prix 3.1 v6 got 99k out of no where the car started stalling while driving after engine warms up but always refired checked fuel pressure has no codes stored seems to do this at random i have checked just about every sensor tps iac so i took a guess at the ing module what a sob to change but problem still there i now have to guess my be crank sensor or cam sensor cant seem to locate them any help if the car wasnot my daughters and so clean i would dump it but she likes it

When this car is warm try the handy "tap test" on the ecm. the engine controm module is under the fuse bax and plastic cover on the right front of the car on the inner fender. just use a screw driver and with the handle give the ECM a swift rap and see if the car stalls out if so you found the issue. Get a remanufactured ECM for it and make sure you swap over the prom out of the old ecm into the new one. there is a door on the back of the ecm with 4 screws take the door off take the prom out and put it in the new computer. then clean the throttle body and throttle bore out with carb/intake system cleaner. Then do a google search for 3.1 liter engine idle learn and follow the steps in the learn process. good luck :-}
