Question
Friend has a 2005 pontiac grand am 3.4 liter that is not firing. It got where it only  started when it was cold now it won't start at all. He said it never stalled or had a miss. I have checked the coil pack's ,they are not firing.

Answer
Hi Rodney:

well if you have no spark on all 3 coil packs then you need to check to make sure you have power and ground on the 2 wire connector on the module the pink wire is power the black one is ground. with the key on it should light a test light and also when the car is cranking. if then is good then check the other 2 wire connector that has a yellow and pruple wires those are for the crank sensor. check the restance across the 2 wires it should be betwqeen 800-1400 Ohms if that is good check for ac ~ volatge acroos those wires while cranking the engine it should show xome volatge in not either the sensor is bad or the wiring between the sensor and module. if all testes good ti is a bad module. One other thing when you try to crank this and let the key back to the run position does the secuity lamp start to flash? if so there is an issue with the factory anti-theft system. good luck :)
