Pontiac Repair: 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT 3.4L, pontiac grand am, body control module

Question
QUESTION: I was wonder if the security light needs to be blinking for there to be a security issue? I can start my car, it will run for a couple seconds then stop. I can do this all day long it just wont stay running, it is driving me crazy!

ANSWER: Hi Noel:

That lamp is blinking for a reason there is a problem with the factory theft system. either the sensor is bad in the ignition lock cylinder housing or there is a water intrustion issue at the body control module. 90% of the time it's the lock housing that is bad the other 10% is rare but it does happen. the HVAC module leaks water right onto the Body module and cause a corrosion issue at the conetors going to it. either way the car is going to starnd you one of these days so I would get it looked at.
Good luck :)

QUESTION: OK, but the problem I have is the security light is not blinking when I turn the ignition to the on position, it is just on, but not blinking. I am just wondering if it could be something else, or if it would still be a security issue?

Answer
It is a secuity issue more then likely Like I stated above. depending on the model year some of them the lamp keeps flashing or some of them it just stays on steady it depends on the year. It could be other things but the likely hood it's a theft issue is very high.
