whats causes that also the speedometer goes haywire and the traction light goes on and off with brake light

I think you have more the one issue going on here. lets start with the idle issue? 1-2K RPM's??? all the time is it a steady engine spped or does if fluctuate? what engine is in the 4 or 6 cylinder?
As for the trac light my guess is you either have a wheel speed sensor issue or a harness going to one of the ABS wheel speed sensors. as for the speedo acting up do any of the other gauges act up at the same time or any other warning lamps come on? when the speedo acts up does the transmission shit okay or does it have long or erratic up shifts?
