Pontiac Repair: 99 sunfire rough start, spark plug wire, rust belt

Question
99 sunfire 2.2, when it first starts the car shakes the rpm's are fine and when you rev it there seems to be a little hesitation but gets better as it sits running. when i put it into drive there's a weird beeping noise coming from the dash where the gauges are and the green daytime running lamp light blinks and then the service engine light comes on and stays on until i shut the car off and it does the same thing all over again in the same order. Also after i shut it off and it dont matter if it was running for an hour or two seconds,  i have to put the gas pedal to floor for it to catch and then it idles fine.

Answer
Hey Jim:
fisrt off the light issue the DRL's are not working. if you live in the rust belt like I do for sure the forward lamp harness is bad thare are multiple wire splices in that harness and they corrode and eventually the lmaps quit working that is the reason the drl lamp keeps flashing and the clicking and the service vehicle lamp is on.

As for the running that engine was noted for spark plug wire issues. the plug wires burn up either at the ignition coils or on the spark plugs. if it happens on cool damp AM's more so then another day then for sure I would look there first especially if it still have the original wires set on the engine.

Good luck :)
