Pontiac Repair: 1990 Chevy 3500 dually 5.7 liter, chevy 3500 dually, haynes manuals

Question
Hi, Todd I have a 1990 Chevy 3500 dually with a manual 3-speed transmission with granny gear on the floor the gear shift has always been kind of sloppy and hard to shift, but now it is very loose and flopping around all over the place it is very difficult to place into any gear unless I stabilize it with one hnad and shift it with the other any help or information on how to repair this my self would be greatly appreciated thank you

Answer
Hi Anthony:

well threr is an interan issue with the transmission one of the detents in in the shifter assembly is broken or worn out It's going to need to come out of the truck and taken apart to see what exactly is broken. look for a Chilton manual for that year and model truck. Either them or Motor manuals are best stay a way from Haynes manuals.
Good luck :)
