Pontiac Repair: hard brakes, vacuum booster, power vacuum

Question
When I press the brake pedal on my 98 grand prix it seems the pedal doesn't go far enough and it sounds like there is an air leak where my feet are.  Does that sound crazy?

Hey Dough.
Your not crazy the brake power booster is bad. That power vacuum booster assists the pedal travel. The diaphram inthe booster ruptured and that hissing is the vacuum leaking past the booster. it needs a booster and it's really not al that safe to drive that way I would get it fixed ASAP.. good luck :)
