Pontiac Repair: grand am steering noise, wheel bearings, wheel bearing

Question
1994 Grand am when i turn the wheels sharp left or right and begin to move there is a clunk, in reverse or drive.
there is new struts, ball joints, wheel bearings and the tie rods seem to be ok. the noise is coming from the front end but is hard to pinpoint. thanks Jim

Answer
Hi Jim:

where all thes parts replaced chasing the noise or did it crop up after one of these parts was replaced? Start there.  I have seenaftermarket wheel bearing make all kinds of wierd snapping and popping noises It could be that if the noise cropped up after a bearing was replaced. Other then that these cars were known for upper strut bearing going bad and stbalizer bar bushing going bad. With out hearing the noise it can't give you a real good idea as to what it could be sorry. Noises even when you can duplicate them are hard to find because the have a tendnecy to travle through the suspension and make it sound like it's comming from a different place then where the problem is. Good luck :)
