Pontiac Repair: locks, salt rust, remote car starter

I have a 1998 pontiac transport.  The power lock will not unlock with the remote or on control panel.  You must mannually unlock.  The locks will still automatically unlock when putting the vehicle in park. I do have a remote car starter could that have anything to do with it?

Hi Marnie:

the van has an issue with a wire harness that runs under the carpet and the right front sill plate on the van. You either live in the salt/rust belt like I do or the van has a water leak. either way the harness on the floor pan on that van get wet and 2 splices in the wire harness corrode and then the locks do not work. In that harness the 2 wire colors to look for are white and light blue those are the wires for the lock and un lock. Pretty common issue on that van. good luck :)
