i have a similar problem. one day my car randomly overheated in the driveway while idling. i bought a new thermostat right away. it did stop the overheating to red zone but the car runs between 210-230. is this okay... i did recently flush and fill the coolant as well as change the temperature sensor and water pump. still same issue... i thought maybe their was an air pocket in the engine so i bled it out several times and tried to "burp" it. still same issue. it usually will cool down more towards 210 when driving at least 40mph. And when the heat is on it always runs cooler. But its about 90 here in Chicago so i don't want heat on! Also i seem to notice when the air is on the fans seem to run faster that normally.. when they come on by themselves they don't sound as loud.. Just wanted to no if this sounds normal or if i may have a problem. Please help if you can!!!!!

these car run on on purpose to hell with emissions and to burn off an condensation in the crank case. usually a cooling fan will come on at around 225 degrees and a low spped. depending onwhat year this is it can have 2 fans or just one fan that has multiple speeds. so it sounds normal the fan opoeration at slow speed and higher speed with the a/c is on. I would suspect that you hve an air flow problem here across the condenser and the radiator. first off is the air dam still in tact under the radatitor. it's basically a plastic fin that sitcks down toward the ground. they sit low and havea tendency to get rippe off in poarking lots on the parking curbs, that only helps going down the road to aid in cooling. If you live in a area of the country that has seasonal trees and there is a lot of that whit fuffy tree polin around it may have gotten stuch in between the radiator and the condenser and then the dirt in the air gets stuk in the pollin and it chokes off the air flow even know the fan runs it's restricting the air flow. another thing is if this car was even in a front end accident and was not repaied properly and the air diverters were not put back in place between theradato and cndenser or behind the front bumper it can not direst the air flow correctly. that is where I would start looking.
