Pontiac Repair: 2000 Firebird Anti-Theft Radio Locked/Help!, pontiac firebird, digit security code

Question
I have just obtained a 2000 Pontiac Firebird Conv. We had to replace the battery and now the radio won't work. It is in the locked position. Can you help me with unlocking it? I have already figured out the 6 digit security code by pressing the 2&3 ETC. A dealership wants to charge between 85 to 100.00. Please help?

Answer
Hi Amtinea:

I'm sorry but I can't help you either that unlock codes was meant to be unlocked by a dealer. It's meant that way for a reason. Anyone can say what you just said and the radio be stolen out of a another car and put into a different car. I have no way of knowing if you story is true or not. Not saying that it is stolen BUT when the dealer does it thsy have proof of ownership from you and the car so they can verify the story. On the other side of the internet I can't do that soory Hope you understand. And the dealer charging you that amount is a bit hight. It only take a few minutes to unlock BUT if it has been tampred with and had the code tied unsuscfully 3 times the radio is locked out and the car has to run with the key on for an hour before the unlock code can me entered to get the car out of theft lock that may be why they quoted a high price. Good luck :) And again I hope you understand.
