Pontiac Repair: pcv valve, vacuum leak, vacuum hose


Question
how can u tell if pcv in backwards . since it sit in a rubber running parrell with valve cover . if u push on bottom were its shut to put pressure on on spring to open it towards manifold. or other way.  i know stupid question. put easy to forget which way

Hi There:

you can't put them in backwards Or at least I have never done it before. The wider side of the valve faces the engine and the smaller end faces up or towards the vacuum hose. depends on the engine as to how it goes it. The only exception I vcan think of is old sunbirds but even them one size of the hose is larger then the other so it will not sit in the hose right and cause a vacuum leak. good luck :)
