Pontiac Repair: Passenge side airbage module, passenger side airbag, ac delco

Question
QUESTION: I bought a used "reset" passenger side airbag module for my 2004 Grand Am GT. I was told it's harness is under the passenger seat, but i don't see it. Could you point me in the right direction?

ANSWER: Hey Brian:

Ther is no such thing and a reset air bag. it's just plain used nothing wrong with a used part as long as it's a "good" used part. I'm asuming it's the bag in the dash your talking about??? The connetor is in the dash to the bag if that's what you need to replace. I can't remeber if the dash harness plugs right into the bag or the bag has a short jumper harness off it or not either way it's in the dash. Before you replace it make sure you disconnect the batetry before you do any kind of air bag repair. The module Sensing and diagnostic module for the whole air bag system is under the passenger seat if that is what your talking about. If thaty is the case make sure the part # on the module in the car now is the same part # you are replacing it with. You will need to have the serial #'s matched in the air bag module and the body control module to do this you need to goto an AC Delco dealer or a GM dealer to have the ID#'s matched or the air bag lamp will remain on on the dash.

QUESTION: i have the module. Is the harness connector under the carpet?

Answer
Which module? this is like an Aboott and Costello routine... It's kindda funny. Do you have the sensing dognostic module or the passenger air bag module? they are both called modules. The SDM module is under the passenger seat and it plugs in under the carpet. The passenger air bag module plugs in behind the dash board. Ifd it's the SDM see my first answer the air bag light will still be on. The passenger bag module is just plug and play no ID learn is needed.
