Pontiac Repair: Instrument panel on 2003 Pontiac Vibe, pontiac vibe, exchange unit

Question
Hello!
I have a 2003 Pontiac Vibe.  Yesterday I went out to start my car for work and the instrument panel wouldn't work but everything else was functioning properly.  I immediately checked the fuses under the steering column and under the hood but they were all ok.  I then unhooked the battery and the panel was working again.  I went out to check it a few hours later and it wasn't working again!   Any ideas?

Answer
Hi Betty:

That's a odd one. I have never see that happen on of of these before usaully NOTHING EVER breaks on these cars. My guess is the IP is in some sort of a logic lock like when windows locks up on your computer and unhooking the battery fixed it for a short time but it reverted back to not working again. My guess is it's an internal issue with the IP and nothing else. That part is not repairable it's service as a complet unit and an exchange unit is sent from a remanufacture facility and that it put in the car a a complete unit. Good luck :)
