Pontiac Repair: 02 Sunfire AC problem., pig tail, radiator fan

Question
I have an 02 sunfire, 2.2 vin4 and last summer I replaced the radiator fan. After that, the ac wouldn't work.  If I played with the wires going to the cutoff switch I could get the compressor to kick on, but it would only work for a couple hours.  I've replaced the cutoff sensor, but can't get it to work at all anymore.  Do you think there's a wiring issue, or are there any tests I can do?  I'm pretty good with cars, ASE certs for a few things, but the ac system has me stumped.  Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hey Nick:

That sensor is a pressure sensor input for the PCM. If that signal is skewed due to a loose connection then the compressor will not run. Being that you haven't used it since last year? It's also possible that the system is low on a charge. I would first make sure the system has at least some charge in it and then if it's not working Then I would look at the connector going to the sensor for a rubbed though wire loose terminal in the connector etc... You can but a pig tail connector for the sensor at the dealer. just make sure you put the right wires to the right terminals if you replace the connector. good luck :)
