Pontiac Repair: pontiac vin1GMDU06GXP1308954, spark plug wire, ac delco

Question
QUESTION: The car has hard start it has loss of power more especially in hill climbing when iretrive the DTC i get 12
THE CAR IS MODEL 1993 PONTIAC TRASPORT

ANSWER: HI Joe:

Codes 12 is not a code it just lets you know the negine computer has the ability to flash codes and acknoledges the fact that you jumped the diagnostic link. I would look at a few things here #1 a Plugged or restricted fuel filter or a restricted exhaust system from a plugged catalitic converter.  Has anyone been playing around with this at all trying to chase this problem? If so I would check the base engine timing to make sure it's not retarded. those are the basic things to check first off.
Good luck :)

QUESTION: Yes sir thanks for the other but as was checking through found the plugs where not fireing when i observed they are diffrent types all the four can you please let me know which type of plugs go on this car your time is highly appreciated

Answer
Hi there. I just noticed 2 things #1 your not from the states and #2 the engine code whish is digit #8 in the vin is not one that matches the engines that were equipped here in the states that van had 2 engine options here 3.1 and 3.8 V6 engines the engine would have had AC Delco plugs from the factory try this site. http://parts-catalog.acdelco.com/catalog/catalog_search.php

Now depending on what engine is in this van it could have a common coil with a distributor or it could have seperate coils that run 2 cylinders at a time. If you have the second type you could have a bad coil and or ignition module and that system could give you 2 dead cylinders. You could also have a bad spark plug wire on that coil that may be dead and cause the dead cylinders and or coil. Good luck :)
