Pontiac Repair: 02 Buick Century digital display not lit, gm dealer, buick regal

Question
Hi. I have a 2002 Buick Regal with a 3.1l and the digital display for the odometer/gear selection display stopped illuminating. It happened once before for about a week and suddenly started working again. Occasionally if I tap on the dash directly in front of the display it would light up enough to read then fade out. Now there is nothing. It is barely readable when driving at night but not bright enough to read in the daytime. The speedometer is analog. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer
Hey Kevin:

This was a common issue with these cars and the Century as well. There is an internal issue in the cluster it's self. You need an exchange unit from a remanufature facility. You can get one from any GM dealer. Usually an exchange cluster is around $200.00 You will have to get the part # off the old unit there is a label on the back of the cluster so it has to come out to get the # and they can order you a new one. We do not fix them at the dealer we just get exchnage units The same goes with radioa and any other electronic unit with a digital display.
Good luck :)
